Dispatcher

Be the backbone of our operations. You'll coordinate loads, support drivers, and keep freight moving efficiently across our network.

The Role

What You'll Do

Plan and coordinate daily load assignments for company drivers and owner-operators
Communicate with drivers throughout the day to monitor location, status, and ETA
Book and confirm loads with brokers and direct shippers
Negotiate rates and ensure loads meet NZA's profitability standards
Track all active loads in real time and resolve delays, breakdowns, or route changes
Maintain accurate records in the TMS — load details, driver logs, and delivery confirmations
Coordinate with the safety team on HOS compliance and DOT regulations
Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, shippers, and receivers
Assist drivers with lumper arrangements, detention claims, and accessorial charges
Provide after-hours support on a rotating on-call schedule

Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of trucking dispatch or freight brokerage experience
Working knowledge of FMCSA Hours of Service (HOS) rules
Experience with a TMS platform (McLeod, Samsara, KeepTruckin, or similar)
Strong negotiation skills and comfort working load boards (DAT, Truckstop)
Excellent communication — clear, direct, and professional with drivers and customers
Ability to manage multiple loads simultaneously without dropping the ball
Calm under pressure — breakdowns, weather, and late pickups happen; you handle it
Reliable high-speed internet and a quiet workspace for remote candidates
Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
Flatbed or step deck dispatch experience is a strong plus
